Didn't do the job!

I'm pretty cheap so every year I change security software because I refuse to pay be bucks just to renew what I purchased very cheaply a year ago. If you're like me you know what I mean... pay something like $20 for the first year and then they want upwards to $100 to renew it. anyway, it has given me a lot of experience with many vendors so when I say I'm disappointed in McAfee it's because I have had to use other software to fix problems that McAfee can't even find. Trust me, if you have a problem like Malware that redirects you to another site in a Google search you know you have a problem even though your security software says all is clean and running smoothly. I had McAfee in the late 90's and I had problems with it then but thought that perhaps they had improved the product and I was wrong... it's still slow, slows your system and doesn't find the problems.

There are a lot of good and bad reviews but, for me, the important part is that it do what it should and it doesn't. I'm dumping this about 3 months before my subscription expires because I have 2 computers infected with Malware and McAfee is useless in identifying it... let alone correcting it. We've had to download SpyBot to fix the problem and it also showed numerous issues that McAfee also missed and this is not the first time. Right after we purchased it we had a Vermundo problem that McAfee was at a loss on correcting so we had to purchase PC Tools Spyware Doctor to fix that problem. By the way, SpyBot is free!

If you want to do a scan and get a report that all is fine and you're not infected then McAfee is what you need. If you want to be protected and even fix something that may be infected then keep on looking because this isn't that product. I'm going back to Norton 360 and if that's not any better then I'll try something else but it will never be McAfee again. I gave it 2 stars because it did run smoothly and did find some stuff... and even blocked a few Trojans.

We have 3 computers still running Windows XP SP2 and though they're all in the same room they are not networked.
Don't touch it...

Holy cow! Don't buy it. I hope they rewrote the new version. Because this one took three perfectly serviceable computers running windows XP and turned them into bricks. I finally had to remove it, they were just unusable with this stuff loaded on them. I'd rather take the risks, and rely on my WAP firewall than load this crap up again.
I was concerned.

I was one out of three people I know that had problems with McAfee dropping their account earlier this year. Originally I bought a 3 computer Security version because I have three computers. My mistake was trying to download an upgrade over a dial up connection. I got dropped twice from the connection so decided to download the disk first then hit the internet for the updates. It was this one computer I have in the office that would never register. Even after emailing McAfee customer service, which as you know is in India, we went through every motion and they tried to help but ultimately it seemed to be my fault.
I really didn't want to buy another new edition of McAfee Internet Security so I ordered a very cheap and old version of 2009 from this business. You are warned, as you are from other electronic stores, that they will not accept opened packages and you will pay a restocking fee. I accept that, but when the package comes without shrinkwrap and the original box seal has been cut you are left with a sinking feeling.
Here I will say that the package came in good speed and ultimately the disk worked just fine, not to mention a great price, but I would have been upset if the disk had not worked and I ended up with no recourse, my innocence undefendable.
Be wary, but worth it if successful.
crap!

I am so fed up with how bad this product performs and I'm so ready to uninstall this crap-ware. Do not buy this software!

I bought two 3-PC packages to use for my laptop, desktop and my son's PC. The other package was for my wife's desktop and laptop.

Here are the reasons why I can' stand this product anymore.

The software needs to update everyday. I'm not referring to the virus definitions but to the program getting daily patches.

This daily update takes a large toll on system resources making any of our computers slow and unusable for a good 20-30 minutes. This is very frustrating.

After running a full system scan, the system routinely reports it doesn't have an Antivirus installed.

The Windows Security center also routinely reports it has no anti-virus system installed on the system.

Save yourself a headache and DO NOT buy this software. I'm still deciding to put up with this software until my yearly protection ends on September 2010 or just buy another product.
As always, a great product

Bought to upgrade previous version. Installed easy and the price beat my local brick & mortar stores. THis product always works well on my XP system. Installed easilly on my Vista system. Then on Windows 7 upgrade it continued to work well.
